Does the bigger the loudspeaker magnet, the greater the loudspeaker power

2022 11/29

First of all, it is a mistake to say that the larger the magnet, the greater the power. For example, a customer said that the input power was too high, which caused the horn to burn out quickly. It needs to add magnets to improve this situation. If you simply magnify the magnet, the horn will still burn. Why? To understand magnets, you must first master the knowledge of magnetic field.

There is a magnetic field around the magnet. The interaction between magnets occurs through the magnetic field, which is a kind of material similar to electric field. When the conductor perpendicular to the magnetic field has current, the conductor will be subjected to the force perpendicular to the magnetic field and the current direction, pushing the drum paper connected to the voice coil to make a sound. This is how electric horn speakers work.

Generally speaking, the bearing capacity of horn loudspeaker is restricted by the thermal resistance of voice coils. The higher the power, the greater the heat generated, resulting in a sharp rise in voice coil temperature. When the load of voice coil material is large, the voice coil will be burned. In other words, burning the horn is actually burning the voice coil, not the magnet.

So, under what circumstances should the magnet be magnified? At the same power and resistance, the louder the better. At this time, it will be obvious to replace a larger magnet. Therefore, when you have low requirements for sound, as long as the horn has a long service life and low cost, there is no amplification magnet. Therefore, it does not mean that the larger the magnet of loudspeaker horn is, the greater the power is. It does not mean that the larger the magnet is, the better. It means that the larger the magnet is, the more expensive it is. There is no doubt about it.
