Site selection and layout of outdoor sound system debugging
2023 11/13
Site selection is the first and crucial step in the debugging of outdoor audio systems. When selecting a location, the following factors should be considered:
(1) Environmental noise: Stay away from high noise areas such as roads, construction sites, airports, etc. to avoid affecting sound quality.
(2) Wind direction and speed: Avoid facing the direction of strong winds to prevent damage to the speaker. At the same time, excessive wind speed can affect the stability of the audio system, so sunshades or umbrellas should be set up in appropriate locations to reduce the impact of wind on the audio system.
(3) Terrain and terrain: Choosing a location with higher terrain is beneficial for the transmission and echo of sound. At the same time, the ground should be as flat as possible to reduce the interference of vibration on the audio system.
2. Layout
After the site selection is completed, the layout of the sound system should be based on the size and shape of the selected site. Generally speaking, the layout of the sound system should follow the following principles:
(1) Main horn loudspeaker: The main PA Loudspeaker should be placed in the center/central position of the venue, approximately 10-15 meters away from the audience, to ensure uniform distribution of sound. At the same time, the height of the main speaker horn should be equivalent to the height of the audience's eyes, in order to observe the working status of the audio system.
(2) Sub horn speakers: The sub speakers should be placed on both sides of the main speaker, approximately 6-8 meters away from the main speaker, to create a stereo effect. At the same time, the height of the subwoofer should also be equivalent to the height of the audience's eyes.
(3) Line array speakers: Line array speakers are suitable for large outdoor activity venues, such as stadiums, concerts, etc. The line array speaker can be arranged horizontally and vertically as needed to cover a larger range. When placing wire array speakers, attention should be paid to maintaining a certain spacing to avoid mutual interference.
