Definition and characteristics of horn speaker and megaphone

A speaker horn is a multi throat sound device, usually composed of multiple throat tubes connected in series, in a conical shape. Compared to other types of PA loudspeaker, horn speakers have a higher volume and better performance over long distances. When in use, it is necessary to use an air or power source to amplify the sound through a throat and achieve propagation.

A megaphone, on the other hand, is a trumpet shaped, open shaped device commonly used for close range propagation. The characteristics of magaphones are simple and easy to manufacture, small in size, light in weight, portable, and more convenient to use. When in use, there is no need for an external power or air source, but the sound is amplified through its own resonance effect.
