Configuration of loudspeaker system in sound engineering

If the PA loudspeaker system wants to reproduce various music programs with high quality, its peak factor is about 10-15DB according to the nature of the music signal. In order to ensure the sound quality, the power amplifier should not have any limit within this dynamic range, that is, the output power of the power amplifier should be 5-8 times the rated power of the speaker. Although the sound quality of this power configuration is very good, his investment will be great.


The following is the configuration experience in general audio engineering.


1. In some projects with low requirements and limited investment, the power of the electric amplifier is at least equal to the rated power of the loudspeaker. But be very careful not to distort the sound. Too small a power configuration does not seem to damage the speakers, but this is not the case. If the power is too low, it is easy to overload and cut the wave, generate a lot of harmonics, and burn out the treble.


2. In general engineering, it is recommended that the power of PA amplifiers should be 1.5 times. The bass part should be more than 1.5 times, so as to get enough strength.


3. Required venues, such as recording studio, concert hall, etc. Ideally, there should be twice the horn louudspeaker power. (This is consistent with one of the recommended values of IEC standards of the Electrotechnical Commission).


In a word, there is no hard and fast standard for the design of power amplifier. It depends on the investment budget and requirements for sound quality.
